as a witness, if nothing else. An unnamed lobbyist would have been a witness, too.

According to today's "information" from the Rick Gates plea deal, this member of Congress was one of three people to attend the March 19, 2013 meeting that Gates lied about in his proffer to Mueller. (The lie was denying that Ukraine was discussed at the meeting.)

It will take a little sleuthing, but who is Company A? We know they were a DC lobbying firm. They were hired to represent the interests of the Ukraine as a cover for the work of Gates and Manfort on behalf of Yanukovich. They lobbied multiple members of Congress. They were paid $2 million from offshore accounts. A meeting took place between a senior member of Company A, Manafort and a member of Congress where the Ukraine was discussed in March 2013. This is like a game of Clue.
