Boycott the NRA - Hilton Honors and Other Hotel Rewards

Last edited Fri Feb 23, 2018, 03:23 PM - Edit history (1)

I was disheartened to learn that many hotels offer a special discount to NRA members. I'm a Hilton Honors member and have racked up a lot of points traveling for work and leisure. It would appear that not all of a hotel's brands get the discount. For example, Hilton seems to offer it to on the Hampton and Garden Inns properties. These are the least expensive options in the Hilton's portfolio drawing mostly budget travelers. The hubs and I will stay at a Hampton occasionally for leisure.

I called the Diamond Desk (1-855-292-5757) and said that I would no longer stay at properties that offer an NRA discount. I said that the Hampton/Garden Inns is a family-friendly brand attracting guests who might not agree with the radical gun policies and anti-law enforcement rhetoric espoused by the current NRA leadership.

So DU friends, check out hotelplanner on the NRA website. If your brand, offers a discount, tweet, email and call your rewards hotels.

Diamond members can call the Diamond Desk, 1-855-292-5757

If you don't have Diamond status, call the 1(800) 445-8667

Love all the Hilton hotels .

I too will point this out, in the most reasonable manner, to Hilton.

We do what we can.

That 97% of the public is for sensible gun safety regulation and that the NRA opposes things like waiting periods, stronger background checks, raising the age to buy weapons etc. That it doesn't make good business sense to align with an organization so radical that only 3% of the public agrees with all of its positions.

There has to be a starting point to the undoing of the NRA.
Thanks

Too many points required for free nights and some hotels you don't even earn 10 points per dollar spent, you only earn 5 pts per $...

100,000 points USE to get you 6 nights at many Hilton hotels, incl some real nice resort hotels....Now, you would be lucky to get 2 nights at the LAX Airport Hilton for 100,000 pts....

Point systems used to be to get ppl in the door.
Now I guess its not so necessary anymore.

It's disappointing .
