Wow, another Trump supporter story

I will try to provide as much detail as possible because my lawyer buddy told me the more detail a person can provide the more likely it is true, and I don't want to be that guy who makes s--t up on the net. I go to a L A Fitness in the San Fernando Valley. We were discussing the Parkland shooting in the sauna and one guy said arming teachers was a ridiculous idea. The other guy, an Israeli ex pat, said it works in Israel. I should have stayed out of it but I know both guys fairly well. The Israeli ex pat is a huge Trumper. Most of the Israeli ex pats I know are huge Trumpers. That make me sad but it is what it is. I said the difference between Israelis and Americans is they have universal conscription and almost everybody serves. I also said they have a martial spirit. They have a large pool to draw from. We don't.

The Israeli ex pat than went on a pro-Trump rant. It's one thing to know Trumpers exist. It's another thing to know one. The first thing he did was bring up the Obama's a Muslim and was born in Kenya canard. I said he was born in Hawaii and the good thing about this nation is we can practice the religion we want, not the one we inherit. My mom was Jewish. My dad was a gentile. I practice a hybrid of the two. It works for me. I then told him that Trump said he rather have "little guys in yarmulkes" count his money than black guys. He said what's wrong with that. I said it's a twofer. He insulted both blacks and Jews, suggesting the former weren't good with money and the latter are preternaturally good with it. I can't believe the whole "Jews are good with money" trope didn't bother him.


He then went on to say the only people who voted for Obama are on the dole and insulted the Armenian guy in the conversation by saying half the Armenians in Glendale are on welfare. WTF ? There are a lot of Armenians in Glendale but I doubt they are more likely to be on welfare than anybody else. The pro Trump guy also said when he drove for Uber in South LA most of his African American passengers disliked President Obama.


The kicker. This guy said he doesn't want to discuss politics.

I have another buddy at the gym who is retired LAPD. He's a nominal Trumper but he's not rabid about it. I don't hide my politics from no one but we get along fine.

1. What's the difference between mandatory military duty

and "keeping a well regulated militia"? Think about it, Israel basically had to create an army out of nothing and keep it maintained by instituting the mandatory military duty. Small country surrounded by hostiles means you need everyone prepared all the time. We don't need that anymore. For a while we did, but not anymore. We have enough people signing up for the military that we don't need mandatory duty.

I'd love to see what these gun humping tRump loving idiots would say if the US actually called for mandatory two or three year military duty. "But, but, but, my son has a bed wetting issue so he can't go". These assholes have every opportunity to serve, but they would rather eat Twinkies and play at being soldiers because the reality of military duty scares the living shit out of them (a la ted nugent).

3. I refuse to even talk to people who espouse the birther crap

I simply tell them they are an idiot and then shun them. If they are that stupid to still believe that crap after all this time, then there is absolutely no point in wasting my breath on them.
