Oath Keepers, armed with guns, performing unsolicited guard duty outside High school

An armed Oath Keeper began watch outside a Fort Wayne Ind High School Friday.

Mark Cowan, an Army Veteran, was moved to do something following the series of school shootings across the country and threats of violence at schools closer to home.

He found a spot off of school grounds, but close enough to keep an eye on people going in and out of
North Side high school. Armed with a handgun and AR-15, Cowan told NewsChannel 15 he is there to protect the students and ward off anyone who is a threat to their safety.

Last Saturday night some poor guy was being carjacked in North Houston.

Along comes a citizen hero gun toting fool who is gonna save the day..

He promptly shoots the victim in the head.
The two carjackers take off in the car leaving the victim on the ground bleeding.
And the shooter, picked up his shell casings and fled the scene.

of the school. This is "gun rights" in action. And in our counrty right now, anyone can set up almost anywhere they want and assume the same power over anyone walking by.

In a way it's a great demonstration of exactly what the gun lobby wants. The question is, is this what the majority of our citizens want? We had a neighbor who carried a gun into a fast food place for unknown reasons, the police were called, and they shot him to death. It may have been a suicide by cop, they couldn't ask him. Not nice for the cop. Not nice for the guy's family.

This guy outside the school is EXACTLY the sort of fool who shouldn't have a gun.

If he was a relative of mine he wouldn't. If I had a kid in that school he wouldn't.

Here is the problem with the NRA type's argument about a "good guy" with a gun IMO - 1. How do we know they are a good guy? 2. By the NRA's definition, how many "bad guys" were actually "good guys" at the time they purchased their guns and ammo? 3. How do we know these NRA labeled or self labeled "good guys" are actually competent, skilled and of the right temperament to address any type of lock-down situation in a school? 4. I really don't want my kid going to some militarized encampment for education. That is a devolution of our society!

Fort Wayne's NBC has learned that Cowan has been convicted of misdemeanor battery resulting in bodily injury.
...
Fort Wayne's NBC reached out to Cowan for an on-camera interview. He declined but did talk to our team over the phone.

Cowan says he was protecting his family and says the man he hit had already hit one of his grandsons and was about to hit the other.

A misdemeanor battery conviction does not prevent him from carrying a firearm.

So, yeah, he claims he was protecting his family, but he was convicted, which implies it was proven otherwise beyond reasonable doubt. He's not a monster, but he can be violent, and he has bad judgement. This is not a man you want hanging around with a firearm, without training, thinking he needs to control other people. He's a tragedy waiting to happen.

Apparently the active shooters in Fort Wayne are supposed to know to enter the school on the same side he's on, and only bring guns he can see in with them.

Not only is this guy sitting out there with his rifle scaring the shit out of people for no good reason, he's not likely to be too effective. His position is pretty close to the maximum effective range of an AR-15 anyway.

Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes, who hosted the webinar, suggested that law enforcement may have deliberately ignored multiple tips about the shooter, Nikolas Cruz, in order to allow a massacre that could pave the way for gun control.

“It was a conspiracy to intentionally leave our children exposed to mass murder,” Rhodes said.
