The grifters in the White House.

The White House is a money-making machine for the Trump family. From the beginning, they have seen it as a way to continue making money. Donald does not do diplomacy for the benefit or security of our country. He does diplomacy to further his business interests.

Last week, Don Jr was in India making deals. Ivanka still has her businesses that she had when they came into power except she has added several licenses from China and Japan to her portfolio. Eric has been working more behind the scenes to make secret deals for the benefit of the family.

And as we know, Donald saw an opportunity with the Old Post Office Bldg and he took advantage of it. Foreign dignitaries pay big bucks to stay at the "Trump International Hotel", just down the street from the White House. And we have no idea how much money has been made off his Mar-a-Lago properties? We do know that he increased member fees by almost 100%. We have no idea what business transactions take place out of the sight of the media and the public.

Also, we know that they fly free all across the country, at government expense. They have their Secret Service and body guards to protect them. It's a good life if you are a Trump. Grifting has never been so easy. And America has never been such an easy mark.

That's all it is to him - and now them. He was tapped out from borrowing in this country and his "name," which he was used to "selling," was now worthless. So he saw this venture as a moneymaking scheme. He didn't expect to win - who did?? But at least it would get his name out there and generate lots of publicity. And now that he's stuck with a job he doesn't want, he's refusing to do even the minimum and passing on the rest. He doesn't know anyone qualified and doesn't have the ambition or a wide enough circle to find anyone who is, so he's resorting to anyone he knows well enough to cooperate with him - and who might like to take advantage of the moneymaking opportunities, too - including his hapless son-in-law in the Middle East??!! President Clinton, a Rhodes scholar who knew the makeup of Jerusalem neighborhoods fell short. These are frightening times and it's tough to believe it's still going on.

You say, "And now that he's stuck with a job he doesn't want, he's refusing to do even the minimum and passing on the rest."

He is not capable of doing the job. He did not expect to win. When he was declared the winner, he had no idea what to do?? He still does not know what to do, even to this day. He is a total incompetent.

So, why do we keep such an incompetent, unstable person in power? Not to mention the criminal leniencies...

gop is to blame for this fiasco They took plenty of Russian money, and now have to help keep him in office to cover THEIR tracks. They are not "representatives" of this country, they are SCAVENGERS. The entire incompetant tRump family is a worldwide JOKE, especially the large orange bulk in the WH. Not a single one of them is qualified for the jobs they are assigned, and the gop KNOWS this, yet keeps covering for them all. We can all hope Mueller's investigations uncover them all, and there has to be resignations from the top level of the so-called "leadership" in the gop.

He is incapable of behaving like a normal human being which makes it so much worse! How can he have lived this long without even having a clue?? He isn't even capable of feigning interest or sympathy, it's as if he's an alien who just landed on this planet. People throughout the world are shocked and offended, too. Back during the campaign I walked outside with some colleagues and when someone mentioned Trump's name I said that I'd sooner vote for whoever was the next person to drive by. And I feel that way even more now - at least the postman or the cabbie or the student driver has a better idea how human beings behave.

There are many things to be upset about with Trump's abuse of the presidency. He's trying to pull off his greatest con and, for the moment, it seems to be working.

One part of this that distresses me is that a solid 35% of Americans don't care or understand what he's doing to our country. Their ignorance is so deep that they can call themselves "American Patriots" while lacking any understanding of our governmental system, history and what it requires of our citizenry. And they are oblivious to the cognitive dissonance these conflicts should cause.

But I think you got one minor detail wrong, kentuck. You wrote, "Eric has been working more behind the scenes to make secret deals for the benefit of the family."

Eric Trump doesn't know how to work and he certainly is incapable of making deals whether they're secret or not. To me, it's a real competition as to whether Eric or his father is the more stupid person. Probably the father since he's had more years of experience being an asshole.

And you describe the 35% that support him very accurately, in my opinion.

and Trump's personal bodyguard collecting $15,000 a month from them for "consulting." There's a reason Trump is a Republican. For whatever reason they're a gullible bunch and easy to con. Don goes where the easy marks are.

..... before the inauguration.

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/15/us/politics/trumps-inaugural-committee-paid-26-million-to-first-ladys-friend.html

WASHINGTON — President Trump’s inaugural committee paid nearly $26 million to an event planning firm started by an adviser to the first lady, Melania Trump, while donating $5 million — less than expected — to charity, according to tax filings released on Thursday.

But really what about Hillary's emails?
