Three Charts Which Should Scare Texas Republicans

Republican political consultant Derek Ryan put together some striking charts in his report on the early vote in Texas ahead of tomorrow’s primaries.

1. Young Democrats are voting in large numbers. The average age for a GOP early voter was 62.8. The average age for a Dem early voter was 55.7. Voters under 30 made up 9.3% of the early voters in the Democratic primary, but only 3.2% of the early voters in the GOP primary.

2. Democratic women are enthusiastic about voting. Men made up 50.5% of the early voters in the Republican primary. In the Democratic primary, men made up just 41.0% of the early voters.

3. Democrats have energized first time primary voters. First-time primary voters made up 10.8% of voters who voted early in the Republican primary. In the Democratic primary, these voters made up 23.7% of the voters voted early. A large portion of these voters have voted in prior General Elections.
