Ok, so I posted this in the LGBT forum, but I feel like others will appreciate that have lost their

jobs. This is what I sent my former boss tonight.

Hello sir,
I just wanted to give you a little update on how my life is going since I parted on such great terms from your business. I wanted to thank you kindly for all of the great things that have happened since.
Yes, I do have a job, but to what gain? Thankfully, I could pay my rent one more month. But what good is that without electricity, gas, or a phone? Because those will all be shut off this week. I have a whole $50 to my name to live on until August 8th. Believe it or not, unemployment does not pay that well. According to them, with a Masters degree which no one that works at your fine establishment has, is only worth $10 an hour. Awesome. Glad I spent $50,000 to get that worthless piece of paper. I do hope that you are doing well with your privileged life that has been handed to you. I am so glad that you have never had to face the choice of not eating or getting to work. I sincerely hope that the next time you pass over a bridge that I will not be there. Not that you would stop and give that person help anyway.
Thanks for that $2000, that obviously went a really long ways, that was so generous of you. Please give my regards to everyone there that sold me out. Especially your Executive Manager that you hired after telling me that I was in charge of your business. I could have done wonders for your company if it had not been for her feeling threatened by a 30 year old who may have had better ideas than her. Oh, and also give regards to the person I got a job for that threw me under the bus so she could have my job. Too bad for her you did away with my position which I proclaimed to you as a crap position in the first place upon my suggestion when exiting your establishment. That was the one time you ever listened to me. Or your pocket book because that save you a boatload of money. All she got was more work for the same pay, for which I do feel somewhat vindicated.
And I do know that you are concerned with my partner for whom you had so much regard. She is still unemployed thanks to you because we cannot get her car in working order due to financial hardships. She feels just great about herself, and you for that matter. Thanks for being afraid of two people loving each because they are the same gender. How kind and forward thinking of you.
But lastly, thanks for the self esteem with which I have struggled over for the past few months. I know in the back of my mind that I am and will always be better than that position and your company. Yet, not being able to pay my bills has made me feel quite the opposite. Funny how that works. I would love to see your response, but considering I won't have internet until I am actually able to pay my electric bill, would hinder this. Of course, that would also mean you would have to care to even form a response in the first place, which I know you do not. Thank you, kind Republican who thinks he earned his right to live in this country when I did not, because, of course, you are better than me. I will take my place in the ranks of the poor and not worthy of kindness or respect.
Sincerely,
You former employee

Fuck you 99%, i'm glad that my dependency on life helps your bottom line. Fuck you again.

I have been there- advanced degree & living in my car with my dog - she always ate - I did not. I almost gave up, but a friend who had no money herself, only advice to give me told me that i could use my energy to be angry for my situation or use my energy on making my life better. It was the middle of winter and I huddled with my dog to keep warm in my car but I worried we would both freeze to death. My friend told me the first thing I needed to do was find something with heat that I could afford and she suggested that I find some way to get a travel trailer, a very old travel trailer. I finally found someone who would finance a very old one to me and a friend let me park it on her lot. I had some semblance of comfort and heat and a fridge. I could live on &150 per month until I was able to get a job and save some money. I am OK now & thank my friend every day for telling me it would get better- if I wanted it to & was willing to focus on the things I had & not on the things I do not have. P.S. I used the Internet at WIFI hotspots & the library. I know you will make it & things will get better !! Believe in yourself & work like Hell. My thoughts & prayers are with you.

for your words of encouragement. My girlfriend used to live in a travel trailer and she loved it. If we had our druthers right now we would sell everything and buy one to go see the world. At this point in time, we are considering living with my mother for a bit so i can find a better job. :/ We all do what we have to.

you could live in some state parks for free as campground hosts. That would be free lot fees, free electric and free water, along with free use of facilities on grounds.

You usually see retirees doing it but I'm sure anyone could apply. In my state you stay at the same site for three months, then move on to another park.

I actually have a resume out on a camphosts site lol. We just lack the resources for a travel trailer at the moment. But it is still an option. We have actually thought about using the land I have and just living it up pioneer style.

what state do you have land in? If you have a couple of acres you might be able to get a couple of DU'ers interested in helping you get the land settled.

I've always been surprised that, for a group of people that seem to be interested in the movement, we don't have a couple of smaller groups of people buying land together and running a small commune.

I live in Missouri. At the moment KC, but my land is near Springfield. We would LOVE to start an organic garden. And my dream is to start a B&B in the house I grew up in. My great grandpa built it about a hundred years ago. My brother and I have talked about starting a brewery there as well.

but would still want electricity, internet, etc. I don't need cable but as of this time I'd need some place offering a decent public school education.

I do understand the whole "back to nature" movement. There are some lovely aspects to it but no air conditioning near Springfield could be miserable.

but yeah, that air conditioning nowadays is pretty spectacular. Plus with the whole electricity thing, i am starting a web design degree in a few days so I can work from home. So that might be a necessity

just got some good news that my aunt and uncle will loan me some money. My uncle came into a business and has a lot of money. They are super republican, but love me and my partner more than you can know. They think that the way we are treated is horrible. I love them with all my heart. Thank God for good people in this world, despite their political leanings .

for what you and your partner are going through. Please remember - what your employer did says a lot about him/her and NOTHING about you. While it's hard to maintain any semblance of self esteem when you are financially devastated and emotionally crushed, try to hold onto the fact you are not the person in the wrong here.

My husband was laid off when the business he worked for was sold and the new owner fired all of the male managers. She wanted a bigger paycheck so she hired women at a lower rate of pay so she could party and drink with her female pals. There is all kinds of discrimination today in the work place....being discriminated against for who you love is, in my opinion, probably the cruelest kind.

And how sad that women are STILL discriminated against in pay. I have been there time and time again. I used to work for a state school and the men were paid twice as much as the women on a regular basis. But we are making the most of everything and we will be fine. Thank goodness for my relatives that believe in me and agreed to let me borrow some money.

Business owners and executives are very well-connected both financially and socially. Of course, we must do SOMETHING and say SOMETHING, but I am uncertain that this particular expression is going to be absorbed or even read in its entirety. I do understand though.

They don't care at all. But it did feel good lol. Luckily for me I did find a job with some wonderful people who know how to run a business and treat their people well. Unfortunately it doesn't pay near the same. I took a $15,000 paycut.
