Five Missouri Walmarts evacuated after bomb threats

Five Walmart stores in Missouri, including two locally, were evacuated Friday after receiving bomb threats.

They were the latest in an outbreak of similar incidents at Walmarts across the country.

The Raytown store at 10300 E. Missouri 350 was evacuated after receiving a bomb threat by telephone shortly before 6 p.m. The Gladstone store at 7207 N. Missouri 1 received a similar threat by phone about 6:45 p.m. and was also evacuated. No explosives were found in either case.

Dan Fogleman, a spokesman for Walmart, confirmed there were also bomb threats Friday evening to stores in Jefferson City, Nixa, Mo. and Ozark, Mo. He said any retail establishment may be subject to such an event, but he acknowledged it was uncommon for so many to be threatened in one evening.
