Gun Nuts Go Batsh*t Insane With Rage Over Nationwide Student Walkout

Rather than engage in a productive conversation or simply acknowledge the students' right to express their viewpoint, the right has taken to savagely attacking them as enemies of all that is American. They're either puppets of the Democratic Party or the ones to blasme

----------------------------------

Dear right wing gun humping dimwits:

Telling teenagers they're all stupid liberal morons for protesting on behalf of their own safety is possible the single most perfect way to make sure that they never ever vote Republican for their entire lives. You are literally telling an entire generation of voters that they're too dumb to talk about politics right at the very moment they're starting to pay attention to politics. They're going to look at which political movement is telling them "Guns are more important than your life" and they're going to remember that forever. And since you foolishly made guns a part of the culture wars, you'll have pushed them all into the arms of the pro-choice, pro-socialism, pro-equality, pro-feminist, pro-gun control left.

In my opinion, it should not be similar to the White House in that respect.

The White House is not a good model to use - there are many people with guns all over the White House at all times.

We need fewer guns in schools - period.

Of course the White House is teaming with security and law enforcement personnel. It is the fucking White House, with a lot of high value targets. Most high schools have a security guard.

As part of the security measures for the White House, no visitor can have firearms. All these kids are saying is that if a visitor gun ban is considered a security measure for the White House, why can't it be a security measure for schools as well?

in that they should be filled with numerous trained people carrying guns in order to prevent attacks.

The reality is that we need fewer guns in schools, not more. (I would mention that the school in Parkland did have an armed security guard and that did not prevent the attack).

The proposal to arm teachers, for instance, is absolutely insane.

We need to start making it harder for people to get guns. Period. We should follow Australia's lead.

If you think the WH isn't a gun-free zone, then try having a gun on you when you go there for a WH tour. They won't buy your "but-I'm-a-good-guy-with-a-gun" shtick.

The Secret Service has them. But many inside the mansion itself don't carry them. Other than select security team members, people - including the WH staff and their guests - aren't allowed to bring guns on the property.

Trump is saying these bans should be lifted, hence the inspiration for posters like this.

Of course these kids are not saying schools should be protected to the extent the White House is. But the Trump was claiming that a gun-free zone is the opposite of a protection. That is why these students pointed out the hypocrisy of such a ridiculous NRA inspired claim. If the White House really believed that gun free zones create danger, the White House would not ban guns from the White House.

was that the Founders' intent? Does it matter?

Some have made valid points. Founders knew nothing of assault rifles. In 1789 it took 3 months to send an army to invade a country. Today it's a 24 hour event. Events and communication move 90 times faster, but Congress is still elected every 2 years. Lifetime appointments meant 25 years. Now it can mean 60.

Everyone has the right to defend themselves. It's been a principle since Thomas Hobbes. Where everything is a provocation and everyone is armed to the max ....
