Maine House Candidate Leslie Gibson Locks Down Twitter Account

Leslie Gibson, the infamous candidate for Maine's state house, who notoriously called Emma Gonzalez a "skinhead lesbian," has taken his Twitter feed private. Apparently, he has a sad about all of the mean things people were posting there:

Gonzalez, a Parkland survivor, has been outspoken following the Florida school shooting. She's not a lesbian, but identifies as bisexual. She does wear her hair in a buzz cut, and that looks really good on her. She's also a very articulate spokesperson.

Gibson has since "apologized" for his comment, but he made it. But, he haz a sad about it after the fact. Now, surprise, surprise, he has a Democratic opponent in his race for the Maine House. Before, he was running in an unopposed campaign.

He'd been running unopposed before his stupid comment.

When folks talk about running in every district, even the hopelessly gerrymandered ones, this is what we're talking about. "Oh, no way Alabama's going to send a Democrat to the Senate!" "PA-18 is completely rigged against Democrats, no sense even trying." You know what you call the guy who won a race by a measly 700 votes? "Congressman."

"Yeah, but Jon Ossoff lost! It was heartbreaking." It sure was, and there's going to be more heartbreaks in the future. Toughen up, buttercup. We're fighting for our country here, and the fuckers who are stealing everything that isn't nailed down aren't giving up just because they've been caught.

You never know. His new opponent is going to get a good start, publicity-wise. State house races can turn on a dime, even in districts where one party typically wins walking away. An idiot can lose an election, even in such a district to a good opponent who know how to capitalize on blunders.

I hope that happens. I hope even more that this Leslie Gibson guy ends up pulling out due to bad publicity, thereby handing the seat to his opponent. Could happen.
