Why are the Trump people so terrified of details coming out?
So he had an affair, his base won't care. So he had 100 affairs, his base won't care.
Even if it's revealed he engaged in S&M games and ate kittens for sexual excitement his base won't care.
I don't get why they'd rather have their attempts to block her become news week after week which makes it a bigger story and focuses the eye of the world on whatever she says.
If they'd just let it come out she'd have her say and it would fade away into the background of other scandals.
What on earth could she say that would damage him more than he is now?
I really don't get it.

(7,529 posts)...that kicks in if 45 has affairs.
It probably would read that Melania loses everything if unfaithful, and to be fair, includes her hubby too.

More interesting is the amount. How odd $130,000. Surely an abortion isn't that much nowadays

(62,444 posts)When you consider the fact that the sex was in 2005 and 2006, and the payment was in 2016.

(6,709 posts)"I don't settle" (when he always settles) etc. is damaging to his image, and can make even some of our dimmer citizens understand the security risk. If a little "nobody" can come along and hit him up for $130,000 over an affair a decade ago, what could someone do who holds millions of his debt get him to do? Or, say, a rival head of state?
Looks bad for lil' donnie.

(89 posts)Maybe he thinks it would hurt his 2020 chances? He should be more worried about Mueller and the short term.

Seems like if we want to impeach Trump, it has to be over a lie about sex. That seems to be the only violation of the "Rule of Law" that the current party in power really cares about.

That was my take, anyway.

(1,202 posts)in addition, it appears that there are details. A generic "knowing" of an affair, is cleaner and more easily sanitized than the gritty details. Evangelicals will have a more difficult time ignoring and excusing the behavior.
Besides, what if there really was an abortion or a child to consider? You don't think that this sordid affair (right after his wife gave birth to their child) would create some serious cognitive dissonance with some of this loyal supporters? I really do believe that this is all cumulative and at some point, some of his supporters will have reach one bridge too far, that last straw that broke the camels back.

(62,444 posts)The rest of it, I agree with you, is not of any particular consequence. We now have confirmation that the guy who cheated on his first two wives also did so on his third wife.
The other shocker here is that a person who had sex with Trump for a while, and likely was compensated for that in various ways, was willing to take $130k not to talk about it prior to the election, changed her mind when she figured she could make more money, and has filed suit to rescind the contract on various grounds.
The payment per se is interesting. The rest of it is important if you want to know the details of Trump's sexual performance.

(30,481 posts)That part has been covered.
Malania isn't under the assumption they are in a monogamous relationship. Still, it could help in a divorce. I don't think the agreement would stop a judge from questioning Stormy. Therefore that is even a point of insignificance.
