Such Kelly BS. Many many tables can last for well over 100 years, probably several hundred years. nt RKP5637 Mar 2018 #11

I have some red oak drying in the garage. Be glad to make ol' Ben a table for 3100. I'll even guarantee it to still be good when the last of the current crop of traitors gets out of prison.

Kelly's baloney might be past its expiration date by then, though.

generally anything over a certain dollar amount should be flagged and require higher levels of authorization. Being the Dept head he may have had to sign off on it himself.

It doesn't matter whether it was designed to withstand a nuclear war or an alien invasion or whether it had built-in wi-fi and butt-warmers or that it would seat the entire Olympic sumo team (if there is one). They were authorized to spend only $5K and they ignored that limit.

Isn't it strange that GOPers who are so indignant about excessive government spending are happy to use the treasury as their personal piggy banks once they get government jobs and decide their perks aren't as lavish as they're used to and deserve?

Furniture older than 100 years isn't that unusual, and most of it was never expensive.
