For all we—and senior White House staff—know, by the time you’ve read this article, several more people may have been fired. Or not.

The Trump White House spent the latter part of this week teasing the likelihood that someone was going to be fired. It could be a National Security Adviser. Or the HUD secretary. Perhaps the chief of staff. Or all of them.

By Friday morning, senior Trump administration officials were wondering if their own jobs were even safe. And then….. nothing happened. The day came and went and no one was let go. Unless they were after this piece was posted. Honestly, it could happen. No one knows, including those sitting inside 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

This is the current state of Trumpland: a presidency conducted like a reality show with no one quite certain of the script. Those close to the president say he revels in the drama that he’s allowing to unfold. But veterans of past White Houses find it both counterproductive and, if they’re being blunt, certifiably insane.

“I don’t even know what is happening in Trumpworld. Up is down and down is up. Everyone is getting fired and no one is. The cast of Fox and Friends is going to run the National Security Council,” said Dan Pfeiffer, a former top aide to President Barack Obama. “We obviously operated differently.”

7. This is the Truman (Show) Presidency, the wildest reality show in history.

Let me share an anecdote with you.

We've (some of us) have watched "The Apprentice" and how candidates are "carefully" chosen to compete. Some make sense, others, not so much.

I couldn't understand why Teresa Giudice, the NJ Housewife/Table Flipper was chosen AND kept on the show week after week when it was clear how inarticulate and incompetent she was. I wouldn't have bet against the show making her the "winner" at the end.

She was eventually "fired". Later, Trump was overheard, berating his son, Don Jr., for recommending Giudice to begin with. Not for the obvious incompatibility with the purpose of the show, but Trump Sr. was under the impression that Giudice would crack under pressure and do more table-flipping while the cameras rolled. To his dismay, Teresa behaved herself (or was on meds) through her time on the show and to Trump, that was boring. He gave her multiple chances to get hysterical and she let him down each time. So, she had to go.

And what does that have to do with anything right now? Consistency or human habit. Trump loves the chaos around him while he stands still. Just having the public in anticipation of who's next to be fired and who's going to replaced the one(s) just booted is enough to give Trump his jollies. He's getting his appetite for attention satisfied. And then even when the choices are his, he plays his choices against each other. More fun. He wants more Teresa Giudices in the Oval Office and he's not getting them.

I'll continue to read DU but I'm changing the channel to another program. Same old, same old.
