A Washington Post report on Tuesday claimed that the Trump White House has been trying to recruit Theodore B. Olson, described as a star Republican lawyer, to help defend President Donald Trump in special counsel Robert Muellers probe.
However, just hours after the report was published, it looks as though Olson has rejected the White Houses overtures.
Ted Boutrous a partner at Olsons law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher sent out a tweet on Tuesday shooting down any notion that Olson would be leaving to work with the White House.

I can confirm that @gibsondunn and Theodore B. Olson will not be representing @realDonaldTrump

gratuitous
(82,849 posts)Gibson Dunn & Crutcher (Richard Nixon's old firm!) has almost certainly been hired by one of the other miscreants in this opera buffo, so much as they might want to (and they don't), they can't take on the short-fingered vulgarian as a client.

(4,407 posts)is that there are too many kooky cooks in the kitchen. I don't think any lawyer with a shred of sense would work with the likes of Joseph diGenova or Michael Cohen.
TheOther95Percent
(1,035 posts)I don't think there is any one factor. It's a combo of:
He won't pay his bills.
He won't take his lawyers' advice.
The likelihood that such a representation would ensure Russian government hackers would be snooping their the firm's electronic files to stay abreast of "developments."
Not wanting to keep company with the likes of Michael Cohen and Joseph diGenova.

(115,735 posts)Lawyer-client communications are privileged. The lawyer can't tell anyone, ever, things his client tells him, even the fact that the client has committed a crime. Retaining a lawyer for any reason is in essence an automatic NDA. So that wouldn't have anything to do with why "the deal fell apart." There never was a deal. Trump approached Olson and Olson said he wasn't interested. And why would he be?

(28,799 posts)i know he's had some for years, but jeez these days it seems like he's hiring new ones constantly.
he doesn't want a lawyer with ethics, just one who knows the law well enough to get him through the way they always have. the man is so over his head. all he can get are shysters or cult members with law degrees. he's really starting to get a stench about him.
ridiculous how happy this bit of news has made me. i may have to hop on to twitter and retweet this to him.
