hrs in a day/deaths per day= hours per 1 death
24/2.65=9.05

Deaths per hour 0.110417 * 9.05 hours= 1 death.

I would make a distinction between "He was killed by a gun" and "He killed himself with a gun." Would you agree?

An ER surgeon wouldn't. They're all GSWs regardless of origin.

But I get where you're coming from... the gross denominator doesn't assist particular narratives very well, and distinctions irrelevant to the original statement need to made.

The distinction is only irrelevant if the contention is that reducing the number of firearms will reduce the number of suicides as well as homicides. If not, the gross denominator is the irrelevant factor.
