the intelligence of Donald Trump. "What appears to be chaos", we are solemnly cautioned, "is his chosen tactic for managing subordinates and is his intentional creation of what, for him, is a comfort zone." This is followed by a reminder that a.) he is a billionaire, b.) he has used the same modus operandi for his entire lifetime, and c.) he IS the president. "Not exactly the track record of a fool", the pundit often concludes. In my opinion, such glowing assessments are transparent contrarian nonsense offered up in the hope that they will be considered "original" and "fresh" and, perhaps even "deep".
Donald Trump is the closest thing to a real, genuine honest-to-goodness idiot that, hopefully, will ever befoul the office of POTUS. The networks should place their microphones behind him at a height of about three feet if they want them near the orifice from which he pulls his "facts". Rarely are his speeches much more than stream-of-consciousness forays into the Twilight Zone of the world according to Trump. As "POTUS", he is simply continuing to do what he has gotten away with all his life: he makes it up as he goes along. No need for boring things like knowledge, preparation and caution. Hell, no! Just "wing it" and, if there's a problem, hire people to solve it and clean up your mess.
He is willfully ignorant and he is proud of his ignorance. He has never needed to be more---or better---than this.

It's a nightmare and I wonder if we will ever see the end of it.

(14,167 posts)This Cambridge Analytica thing has revealed that he is very good at doing what he is told to do, from chants created for him ("Lock her up!" to nicknames. It's all focus tested with their unsuspecting victims.
The only thing he knows how to do halfway decently is market an idea given to him.
