(16,254 posts)The Pugs are going to start moving away from Romney, big time. We've already seen signs of it with questioning if he is the right person for the job, comments from various old-school Pugs against some of his antics, the shame of this latest uproar at the Olympics.
I would bet the dark side of the party...Cheney, Rush, Rove and even the Kochs...have given their thumbs-down to continuing on with this clown. Romney looks like he's in a daze...about to either crack up or lose his cool. One or the other will certainly happen if people continue the "release your tax forms" rhetoric. He is terrified about doing so.
Now, the media is falling into step with the old school Pugs.

I think the Republicans are going to sack their own quarterback.

(16,254 posts)ad nauseum...but they can say, "I told you so," after Mitt is the nominee.
For now, I suspect the little cameos we've been having of Jeb and the Bush family...a little here, a little there...plus the hints in the MSM and outward disgust of the old crew, are to get us slowly acclimated to having to look at the BFEE members again.
If I weren't ancient, I'd contact HGTV House Hunters International and ask if they'd do a segment on me relocating to some isolated island. Oops, can't do that, as the ocean is rising.

(17,199 posts)... will Romney's campaign implode before they even get to the convention?
These next couple of weeks could be a total meltdown, if things continue.

(20,136 posts)than letting Romney continue. For one, it would cause even more division in the party by pissing off all the Repubs who do support him. It would look horrible having an "appointed" candidate rather than one chosen by the voters. That would be the best gift to Obama and Democrats the Republicans could give; it would cement the impression of Republicans being elite and out of touch with the "common folk"
Not that I'd be complaining obviously! I hope they really fuck things up for themselves.

(9,753 posts)Because he is a wimp, a coward, a trimmer, an empty suit, an unprincipled weathervane, etc., etc., etc.
By comparison with Obama, he's ridiculously unqualified for office.
And I think the 'Lican leadership knew months ago that they lacked an electable candidate and have been redirecting their efforts to ensure that Obama's second term is a failure. If they pick up enough House and Senate seats, they'll be a lock to wreck his presidency altogether.
Please don't forget Congressional, gubernatorial, and state legislature races (and Secretary of State, if you live in a state that elects that official). Republicans know they're losing the demographic wars, the moral/ethical wars, and the economic wars. The only way they can remain relevant is by taking control of individual states.
I propose we don't let them.

(17,199 posts)He's a champ in those areas.
But he can't even "compete" in the arena of ideas. (Because he has none. He lacks a spine; he lacks conviction; he lacks empathy; he lacks understanding of the real world most of us live in, those of us who don't have three homes, five cars, private jets, etc.)
The British papers were right: He's a real Nowhere Man!
