I remember a long time ago after Columbine and Tom Mauser fought for his son Daniel who had been murdered.. He was a voice in the wilderness and vilified, but he keeps fighting.. This is a fight, good against evil. How can we allow this?

I was teaching at Smoky Hill HS on the day Columbine happened.

BTW, it's Tom Mauser, if you'd like to fix that.

Peace.

I spent the next 10 years at CSU, and then taught for four years at the University of Kansas and four more at CU-Boulder before moving to the University of Iowa this year. I left Smoky Hill, in part, because of the coming wave of standardized testing, but in retrospect, I don't know how long I could have lasted teaching journalism and English while also worrying about "active-shooter drills."

Oy. Hope all is well back home. I miss Colorado every day.

bursting at the seams. I've never seen it like this. Colorado became my home 34 years ago and I wondered why the whole world wouldn't want to live here. It' seems now they do.

That said, I still can't imagine living anywhere else, but will have to leave my mountain home at some point. Breathing is getting to be an issue.. Maybe the west slope.

We love Ridgway. Would love to retire there, but it's getting expensive, too. Montrose is still reasonable.
