Proposed: The right of the people to keep and bear a Bible shall not be infringed.

The right to carry a Bible shall not be infringed. (Mark Venuti)
The right to carry a cell phone shall not be infringed. (Countless; most recently Stephon Clark).
The right to hold a sandwich shall not be infringed. (Vonderit Myers)
The right to carry a flashlight shall not be infringed. (Jamaal Moore)
The right to hold a wallet shall not be infringed. (Michael Davidson)
The right to carry a cane shall not be infringed. (Bobby Dean Canipe)
The right to hold a hairbrush shall not be infringed. (Khiel Coppin)
The right to water your lawn shall not be infringed. (Douglas Zerby)
The right to carry a pen shall not be infringed. (Tommy Le, age 20)
Possession of these normal objects are capital crimes, in the twisted culture that protects its 300 million guns with every broken fiber of its being.

Perhaps the right to play with a toy gun SHOULD be infringed, but you are not forgotten, either, young Tamir. Forever young Tamir.

Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
On one side of the scales of American justice, we have unfettered access to guns, along with sufficient fear and insecurity stoking the demand for them;
And on the other side, we have the ability to live one’s unarmed life, especially as a black man, without fear of becoming a target of a paranoid cop.

The scale seems very rigged. For the sake of other people’s guns, we are exposed (to critically varying degrees) to summary execution without appeal, without a jury trial, and are thereby deprived of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

How different would the job of the police be, if there wasn’t a threat of gunfire from every alley, blind corner, backyard, traffic stop?
