when he was making that statement. Trump does not appear to have the ability to genuinely connect with average people, especially with children. Trump was "at ease" in 2007 when degrading women in front of Billy Bush and others on the bus. You could see the natural inflection of his voice. He is at ease talking shit and dehumanizing others. His speech at the Easter Egg Roll was stilted and directionless. He did not know what the hell to say. He doesn't see children as anything that he needs to pay attention to.

He is just jaw droppingly bad at that kind of talk. So he just starts talking. He said something about them keeping the place in Tip Top Shape. Then the weird Tippy Top shape comment. He likes to repeat phrases, so he was probably just doing a variation on that. What a boob. Do you suppose his staff just goes to their “happy place” whenever he makes public appearances just to avoid the shame they must feel at being one of his staff members??
