The Sinclair "event" is like something out of North Korea...

A memo comes down from on high that all reporters are to fall in line and say the "company line". That's exactly the kind of thing they do in dictatorships. Those on the right will argue the fact that a corporation is doing this instead of a government makes the difference but it doesn't. Any form of American dictatorship that arises will be filtered through the lens of capitalism and corporations. Every dictatorship is unique and moulded to the culture it arises out of. I'm not saying the US has a dictatorship, but seeing that piece on John Oliver sent shivers down my spine.

Right up their alley. The whole NK populous is pretty brainwashed from birth so yes they do indeed do things that obviously because they can. If you question anything you disappear or die so there's no real need to hide much.

I will no longer watch the two Sinclair stations that serve our area.

One thing we know, they'll keep trying. We have to shame them back into their dark stink caves.

back in the late 60s, I bought a little PAL TV for my barracks room. On it, I could watch the Soviet TV channel out of Sochi or Batumi. I used to tune in to the news broadcasts, which were identical to all other news broadcasts throughout the Soviet Union. It was informative about what state-owned broadcasting can do. The USAF had graciously taught me Russian, for its own reasons, so the language barrier wasn't a problem.

With Sinclair, we are seeing a similar thing happen, but owned by a corporation. So far, we have other corporate channels to view, but Trump is attacking those almost daily. There is a progression that is frightening underway.

We have a chance in November to put the brakes on that progression. I suggest that we had better take that chance and run with it. Really!
