Caravan of immigrants headed to the US
That bothers Trump so much...
I was curious about the Faux News Hyperbole about the "army of immigrants, caravan of immigrants" headed to the border as tweeted by Trump.
So I looked up the buzzfeed report.
https://www.buzzfeed.com/adolfoflores/a-huge-caravan-of-central-americans-is-headed-for-the-us?utm_term=.ixZXlZZB6#.alqdGWWqw
So the number is near 1000 or maybe "hundreds" (both are used in the report).
They are moving in a caravan because they don't want to pay the coyotes (and gangs) to move through Mexico.
"Organized by a group of volunteers called Pueblos Sin Fronteras, or People Without Borders, the caravan is intended to help migrants safely reach the United States, bypassing not only authorities who would seek to deport them but gangs and cartels who are known to assault vulnerable migrants."
Mostly women and children, BTW.
And what dangerous thing are they planning when they get to the border with the US?
"When they get to the US, they hope American authorities will grant them asylum"
Instead of hyperventilating over this, why don't we offer to help them stay in Honduras (most are from there) by helping to eradicate the gangs. I have this feeling that we could spend a fraction of the money that the wall would cost and provide them with safety and better living conditions in their home country.
