There is nothing left to consider about Trump. He is not going to get sane. He is not going to wake up reasonable some morning. He is not going to "pivot" or "act presidential" or "grow into the job".
Trump is what he is and what most of us with any common sense at all knew he was: a totally incompetent, ignorant and amoral monster. Nothing will be right until he is gone and any plans or policies which are not based on his swift removal from the office he disgraces daily should not even be considered or discussed. All avenues which may lead to ridding us if this disgusting parasite must be examined and vigorously pursued.
We need to get in the face of any politician who is anything less than openly indignant about the peril in which Trump has placed our democracy. "Speak out or get out" should be the new standard we set for elected officials and we must try to get everyone we call friend, family or decent acquaintence to VOTE FOR EVERY DEMOCRAT ON THEIR BALLOT this November!
Stated succinctly, Trump is an existential threat to our nation. ACT ACCORDINGLY!

And who'd want him anyway, given is lack of soul or conscience...

(58,785 posts)from this call to everyone here. They are not going to "speak out or get out," and only people in their districts can vote for them.
The typical conservative blue dog Democrat votes with the Democratic caucus roughly half of the time and with Republicans roughly half of the time.
This varies not just by issue, but also by just how bad what the Republican are trying to do is. 100% of all blue dogs voted AGAINST the tax heist.
Republicans vote Republican roughly 97% to 100% of the time. Every one of our blue dogs holds a seat in leaning or majority conservative districts that is targeted for takeover by the Republicans.
"Speak out or get out" would be a good slogan for anti-Democrat forces determined to keep congress in Republican hands. Supporting it would be that potentially disastrous.
I do like it for Republicans, but they don't listen to us.

Hortensis
(58,785 posts)but your last sentence required me to give you some credit for supporting Democrats.
Apparently it's supporting only some Democrats even if that once again means giving control of CONGRESS to the right. And maybe even giving them the supermajority they need to destroy our nation.
Those who took your recommended approach in 2016 turned our government over to Republicans.
LET'S FUCKING HOPE THAT INTENSE STUPIDITY IS IN THE PAST.
Btw, anyone here who doesn't like his utility bills these days or wakes up worrying about climate change? By now we would be a third of the way into putting nearly a HALF BILLION SOLAR PANELS on American roofs. That was the plan.
Still is. This term was also meant to include significant advances in RAISING WAGES and REDISTRIBUTING NATIONAL WEALTH, next term to continue that. And we also hoped to move toward, perhaps implement the beginnings of, a UNIVERSAL BASIC INCOME.
If we vote smart we move forward.

(15,124 posts)reciprocate and label your opinion "intense stupidity"? I think not.
We disagree. That does not mean I think we have different goals. I credit you with wanting to elect a solid Democratic majority in Congress and a Democratic president. I don't know why you can't give me the same credit.
Disagreeing as to how best to achieve what we BOTH want does not make me either stupid or less of a Democrat.

But THIS is Democratic Underground.
We elect Democrats.
NOT Republicans.

Do NOTHING else, period.
I know you know this. Surely everybody on this site, at least, agrees.

(58,785 posts)winning, given the intention to destroy all our federally organized and taxpayer funded medical and retirement programs.
The ultraconservative billionaires behind this choose not to remember that employers' contributions to those programs are DEFERRED WAGES, earned by the workers and paid for them into those programs for decades. They've always gotten all kinds of incentives for participating, yet these jumped-up creeps imagine and resent us sponging off them, off their money, and are determined to put an end to it.
Whatever it means for us individually, many people would die if they won. That's actually the plan. Live and die on our own. A 61-year-old whose well paying job is now done by a computer can't get a new job with health insurance? That's her problem. Try harder.

(28,270 posts)...totally change their ways!
Anyone who thought Shitler was going to become "presidential" and be a leader for all Americans was delusional at best, just another sucker bent over and takin it in the shorts in Trump's lifelong con game!
The average republican is a damn fool begging the rich and powerful to destroy his life because they can't stand the thought of liberals, gays and PoC having a decent life in this country.
And of course the 1% is all to willing to do what their idiot voters demand!
Trump is going to DESTROY the base republican voters that put his evil ass in the white house, they are suckers, rubes, idiot sheep longing for the Koch bros slaughter!
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)Not hardly!
Some extremist conservatives among the 0.01% intend to destroy government of, by and for the people and restructure our government to serve them. They divided the electorate, turned the right on the left, and achieved part of their goals. And they don't give a damn what their idiot voters want and need, only how to delude and put their votes to best use.

(3,363 posts)We can hope we win the House, but the damage he will do before then is insane and we can't get enough Senators to support removing him so he'll probably be there for 3 years.
