What is Trump saying here?

I can't quite figure out the sentence.

Mr Trump said Nato “has taken many billions of dollars more than they would have had
if you had crooked Hillary Clinton as president”.

Is he saying Trump has given NATO more money than Clinton would have?

That said, in context, it seemed clear that he was claiming that NATO has made more $ since he began causing discord and confusion, and insisting that other countries pay their fair share. He’s basically saying he has improved NATO.

you can see the elements of a con man at work here, but he's so pathetically bad at it.

the most amazing thing about republicans liking him is that almost any other republican would be better *for the republican party* than him.

it's one thing for us as democrats to marvel at how much they like him despite what we see as horrible policies and statements.
it's another thing for us as democrats to marvel at how much they like him despite his obvious blunders.
