Steve Schmidt Is Billed As A Republican Strategist....

On MSNBC now - he just called Trump a 'useful idiot' and said of Trump's ramblings - they are the 'musings of an imbecile'. He clearly recognizes that Trump is a threat to our democracy. Then why isn't he strategising with the Repugs in Congress to contain Trump?

Schmidt is too old school for them.

You quoted him as saying that they consider "it" a useful idiot. What's to contain?

Let's face it, everybody knows that "it" is a buffoon. If they can use the buffoon's rabid base as an excuse to move things in a direction the corporate overlords desire, they're going to have the same opinion about "it" than everybody else.

Watch Mitt Romney suck up to Trump next year when he's in the Senate.

Not sure of his status. It could be one of those titles you never lose.

The problem with most republicans is that they support Trump and/or do nothing to stop him. The problem with the rest of them (Kristol, Frum, Schmidt, etc.) they did things to make this all possible.

and other conservatives for a criminal and traitor. Trumpy's rise to power has caused a "trans-political" movement to discredit and eventually to oust him. Schmidt has honed his "rip-him-a-new-one" craft to a fine art. The more he rants, the more embarrassed Congressional GOPers should get, because they all know that Schmidt is correct and they just have to sit and take it. Schmidt illuminates the core of his own political party as spineless and cowardly. His comments are healthy.
