Trey Gowdy on Whether Trump Should Be Relieved He's Not 'Target' of Mueller Probe: 'Heavens No!'

Though the Washington Post reported that Robert Mueller doesn’t consider President Donald Trump to be a “criminal target” but a “subject” of his investigation, Rep. Trey Gowdy warned the president should be worried.
The Republican congressman and Sen. Tim Scott appeared on Fox & Friends today to promote their new book, and they were asked about the latest developments regarding the special counsel investigation.
Gowdy said it is unusual for investigators to actually tell subjects whether or not they are “targets” of a probe, but Mueller might have done so because of the sensitive political nature of the case, “a weird hybrid of criminality and politics.” He explained that it would only take one witness for Trump to become a “criminal target” of Mueller’s investigation.
“So if you were his attorney, you wouldn’t have a sigh of relief?” Brian Kilmeade asked.
“Heavens no!” Gowdy responded. “I will have a sigh of relief when the investigation is over, and even then, maybe not.”
