(297,232 posts)I love our Dems in the Democratic Party.. that somebody down in Jackson, Mississippi called a "failure for the last 15 years".
"The business model, if you like, of the Democratic Party for the last 15 years or so has been a failure".

(297,232 posts)piling on negativity the very next day after our big win in Wisconsin and we've been winning all year.. how's that for getting business done.
No accomplishments.. just negativity.

Then I saw another DU post and things clicked.
Oh my! Poorly-chosen time to show that person's true colors, methinks!

(29,067 posts)It's a specific criticism aimed at a specific set of policies, and it's one many Dems agree with.

(297,232 posts)President Obama the day after we won big in Wisconsin and on the anniversary of the assassination of Dr Martin Luther King.
So yeah it's whatever.. he still attacked, and the POC community that I read were not impressed that BS called President Obama "charismatic".. said it was patronizing and I agree.

As to Bernie, he also called him "brilliant " but you may find that "patronizing" as well...Whatever

(714 posts)So here is my two cents on this;
1- No organization is above criticism; the day we were told her on DU that we were no loner allowed to criticism Clinton for any reason was a real wake up call. Once leadership is above any reproach, get yourself a robe, because you just joined a cult.
2- Talking about a group's business model is not the same as existentially attacking a group. I personally agree; in the past year, I know what the party is AGAINST (Trump and the Republican governance model), but I don't really know what the party is FOR anymore.
3- I, and the Jewish communities I participate in, have not been impressed by the constant misquoting and mischaracterization of the closest the party has ever let one of us come to being president. Quite frankly, while I don't want to start throwing out terms like "antisemitism", I can sort of feel the shape of it in my mouth. Do you realize that US Jews contributed HALF of all Democratic contributions in 2016, and yet we still have to deal with the "sneaky jew" image?

(297,232 posts)I took it the same way..
From Joshua DuBois..
snip//
"Bernie's comments were tone-deaf and will not help him with communities of color, especially black folks," said Joshua DuBois, a strategist who led Obama's faith-based initiative. "On that hallowed day, our focus should've been on the transformative legacy of Dr. King and how we can come together to continue King's fight against systemic racism and injustice not attacking the legacy of the first black president, who fought against many of the same things Dr. King fought."
snip//
Sellers argued that Obamas legacy encompasses not just his work as president from a policy perspective, but his symbolic importance. He alluded to the photo of a boy touching Obamas hair in the White House to see if it felt like his. Bernie Sanders doesnt understand how that photo is emblematic of the hope of many African Americans and that it speaks loudly to who Barack Obama is.

(1,461 posts)IN THE CONTEXT it was layered into was "articulate and bright and clean" (Biden from 2008). I just instinctively winced, and that's when I posted this OP. I had no idea it was going to set off damn near 700 replies and cause such a shit stir (at one point I was terrified of being banned from the board). I have has similar things ("oh you are so well spoken and educated, blah blah blah" my whole post-adolescent (hell maybe even pre, lol) life, and I sometimes deep down just feel like many of the people saying that are leaving an implied "for a coloured girl". Most of that was in London, where I grew up for most of my life (New York for 2 years when my parents first divorced and I went with my father), so I can but imagine what IN THE SOUTHERN US (where Bernie was when he spoke) people like us have to go through.
Maybe I was being overly sensitive, but, based on things I have read and heard from the Sanderite left THEMSELVES, I am loathe to give complete benefit of the doubt.

(90,686 posts)...have been won by Democrats. We seated Barack Obama twice and Hillary won by 3 million votes over the Trojan Horse. It took a massive conspiracy against the democratic processes of this nation -- including a hostile cyber-invasion -- to prevent Hillary from being in office.
The "failure" wasn't the "Democratic business model."

(82,849 posts)And DUers across the nation, if you're in a district where your Republican representative refuses to hold town halls, why not get in touch with the local Democratic party apparatus, and see what it will take to host a town hall? There's no rule that it's all up to the party pooh-bahs: You can do it!

My own congressman Rodney Davis refuses to meet with more than 6 constituents at a time. Why the fuck isn't the DNC prodding their congresspeople to fill in? To me this a great opportunity to shove up the gop's ass..

(24,470 posts)The Democrat and Prosecutor Challenging Devin Nunes
Andrew was raised in Visalia; the son of immigrants, he has committed his life to public service. Andrew returned home after law school and became a prosecutor for Fresno County, and is now running for Congress to continue serving the community. Andrews experience as a successful Deputy District Attorney and deep ties to Fresno and Tulare Counties make him an ideal candidate to take on Devin Nunes for California's 22nd Congressional seat.
