Madman runs amok. Republicans sit it out.

What would he have to do? Seriously, is there anything at all he could do that would make the Republican Party put a stop to it?

Could he actually shoot someone on Fifth Ave and get away with it?

Appoint Sean Hannity as his national security adviser?

Install a jeweled throne in the Oval Office?

Take a dump on the Washington Mall?

Launch a nuke?

What would it take? How much more bonkers does he have to get?

Assuming our country and the world survive this orange reign of terror, I believe the Republican Party, in it's current incarnation, is done. There just isn't enough stupid to keep them in power. Oh, they'll hold on to islands of hatred here and there, but they're as dead the Whig and Know-Nothing Parties.

Democracy can't survive with one party. Eventually some sane opposition will have to build on the scorched earth left by today's corrupt/malicious Republicans.

1. The Repubs in Congress have shown that they care more about tax cuts than the country.

That's a sad, and shocking, truth. The "patriot party" isn't so patriotic, except in their own, private sense of the word: tax cuts is being patriotic!

I've been reading for some time that Repubs are saying this and saying that behind the scenes. I was hoping that those behind the scenes would become public or turn into action at some point, but it seems they won't. So I don't pay attention to the men behind the curtain. Behind the curtain doesn't matter, any more. What matters is public statements and action. I'm not seeing that. So that's all there is to that.

I also don't see anything out of the Mueller investigation indicating that Trump will be charged with anything criminal, which is what it takes for impeachment, is my understanding.

I was clinging to the thought that at least my retirement account was doing well, but that's been sliding lately, with losses from the trade wars beginning to accumulate.

What a mess.

what could they do to stop their annihilation in Nov 2018?

If they act on trump, 1/2 of the GOP vote will stay home and they will be annihilated in Nov 2018
If they don't act on trump, all the independents who vote GOP will abandoned them for democrats and they will be annihilated in Nov 2018

Its the best possible place for GOP to be in...they grabbed the tar-baby trump and they own him

we need to run against the Repugs in Nov. We can't make Nov just about Trump. Trump is the Repugs useful idiot. They let him run interference while in the background they are screwing us.

We must make Nov 2018 an election against the Repug Party.

6. One of the reasons I think Mueller will indict Trump
Fri Apr 6, 2018, 10:09 AM

Is that he is faced with a question that nobody has ever been faced with before. The Constitution assumes that Congress would reign in such behavior. Given that we have a Congress unable or unwilling to do that, do the courts also have that power? Mueller may believe this is such an important legal question right now that he has to give the courts a chance to answer.

8. This would probably end up at the Supreme Court

Which way would they go? Given the five conservative majority, it's impossible to tell.

After all, this is the same court that gutted the voting rights act (with Gorsuch replacing Scalia).

Kennedy and Roberts are institutionalists. They will choose to preserve the court's power rather than follow conservative ideology, especially if Mueller presents clear evidence of wrongdoing, as I expect he will.
