National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow appears to have been blindsided by President Donald Trumps threat to impose an additional $100 billion in tariffs on Chinese imports.
Asked by reporters Friday when he first learned of the presidents decision to instruct his top trade official to consider the new tariffs, Kudlow took a lengthy pause before responding: Last evening. The White House statement announcing the move went out shortly after 6:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Thursday.
The former CNBC contributor and Reagan administration official has spent the past few days as a self-described happy warrior for Trump, who on Tuesday announced plans to hike tariffs by 25 percent on Chinese manufacturing imports and other products worth around $50 billion.
In a counterpunch on Wednesday, Chinese President Xi Jinpings commerce department announced plans to level $50 billion in retaliatory tariffs on 106 imported American goods including aircraft, cars, chemicals and soybeans.

(34,661 posts)cheerleader for Tarriff's for decades. Most who follow Wall Street even rarely, will remember Kudlow's rants about his Tariff 's stances. He would wail against Japan and Taiwan when he was in the Reagan Administration.
So this idea of just heard about it last night is a major lie once again. BTW,Kudlow would brag about his association with Wilbur Ross and Carl Icahn.

(92,190 posts)spew his propaganda bullshit, but answer the damn question, which was is the U.S. currently in high level negotiations with China on this, and what is their strategy.
The answers, NO. As of yet there are no negotiations with China going on, and no timetable if and when they would occur, and it became pretty obvious that they have absolutely no strategy
