GOP fears primary fight will ruin Va. Senate chances

Virginia Republicans lack a consensus frontrunner to take on Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), setting the stage for a brutal primary where the top contenders are likely to run hard to the right.

Republicans fear that the campaigns of two controversial figures — minister E.W. Jackson and frontrunner Corey Stewart, chairman of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors — will wind up alienating moderates and squandering any long hopes Republicans had of winning in a state that's increasingly trending blue.

And even if state Delegate Nick Freitas is able to catch fire, most Republicans and analysts don’t think he’ll have a real shot against Kaine, either.

“I don’t think there is anybody,” one veteran Virginia Republican strategist told The Hill when asked whether the party can mount a serious challenge to Kaine. “You can’t control the dynamics afoot, and these guys at the race don’t even have close to the fundraising prowess or the ability at that level to deal with someone as effective as Tim Kaine.”

Personally I don't think they're likely to beat Kaine no matter who is nominated.

Settle on the Trumpiest candidate you can possibly find. President Trump is immensely popular (everybody says so!), and hitching your candidate's wagon to that star is a sure-fire path to victory!

Signed,

The RWNJ in Virginia will nominate Corey Stewart because he is a Trump disciple. He was Trumps VA Campaign Manager until he was fired for reasons that were never explained. He is a gun humper whio gives away AR 15 at his rallies. He likes to boast that he has never lost to a Democtet. I call him Carpetbagger Corey because he is Minnesota but to herman him talk you would think he grew up in the South. He is not to be underestimated and.Tim Kaine has said that he always runs like he is 10 points down.
