John Dean's seen a thing or two. He knows how the Repub Party works. He also knows the value of advertising.

(3,515 posts)A lot of Democrats are watching to see if the rumors about the show are true. They will soon quit watching in disgust.

(37,648 posts)It's been my observation that when a show comes running out of the gates, it makes the course. Although shows that do not hit the ground running, sometimes find their way the next year.
But this isn't an argument about viewership numbers and demographics. John Dean is noting that ABC is bottom diving, he's seen this before, and you can take it to the bank that Trump will make an appearance and/or Roseanne goes to the W.H.
Because...that is one of the purposes of the show. It's a long advertisement and campaign message.

(37,648 posts)normalizing and advertising Trump and presenting Trumpers in a sane light. So those numbers will go down. But Trumpers are flocking to the show in droves.
It's a hit, apparently. We'll see.
If it stays a hit, Dean, one of the former insiders with blind ambition like the rest of them, knows what the show is for, and how it will be played.

(37,648 posts)This is a mid-term year, and one of the storylines is the ongoing wild-eyed crazy liberal Jackie vs. sensible, calm Trumper Roseanne.
