This saying epitomizes a basic difference in the philosophies and mindset of the Left compared to Republicans who hold hard and fast to the YOYO (You're On Your Own) philosophy, that you get what you deserve.
The irony is that most Republicans would overwhelmingly claim to be Christians but would never heed nor believe in the words of Jesus to help the less fortunate or even the words of their god from the Old Testament to treat strangers well because they were once strangers in a strange land themselves.
