a mainstream Democrat was so demonized that we allowed Putin to steal our election.

Now, as long as we all agree NEVER to do that again, I will answer your question with the reminder that W and CHeney got away with this shit also on the 911 Commission.

In America there are one set of rules and the Democrats must follow them to the T and always, the Republicans never have to.

But we KNOW that, we KNEW that when we did what we did. Some of us anyway.

If he's in danger of indictment, he can't be compelled to testify against himself. so maybe Mueller doesn't want to compel him and alert him. better to have think he's in charge

Robert Mueller was hired by Assistant Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

Mr. Rosenstein works for the U.S. Department of Justice which is a component of the Executive Branch of the U.S. Government.

Trump, as president, is in charge of the Executive Branch.

Accordingly, Mr. Mueller sort-of works for Trump. (There are protections to prevent Trump from directly firing Mr. Mueller.)

Additionally, the president has a strong negotiating position because of his role as the head of the U.S. government.

Remember that President Clinton was able to negotiate his testimony to Starr's investigation. This isn't that different except that Trump will eventually lie over and over when he eventually is forced to testify or be interviewed.
