Puerto Rico-based consultant Francisco Domenech resigned from his seat on the Democratic National Committee on Friday after his arrest earlier this week on domestic violence charges.
Domenech, who served as a co-chair of Hillary Clinton's national finance council during the 2016 election, also managed Republican Jenniffer González-Colóns winning campaign that year to become Puerto Ricos resident commissioner and nonvoting congressional representative. González-Colón distanced herself from Domenech this week after reports surfaced of his arrest for alleged physical violence against his wife, who works part time in the resident commissioner's office.
Domenech faced growing pressure from local and national Democrats to resign from his at-large seat on the DNC before he did so Friday.
These allegations of domestic violence are extremely disturbing and have no place in our party, DNC spokeswoman Sabrina Singh wrote in an email. As such, we have accepted DNC member Francisco Domenechs resignation.

(58,717 posts)until actually prosecuted and convicted, the accusations remain allegations, legally.
It may sound a bit squishy to us out here, but wording it more strongly might prejudice the case.

(58,717 posts)The allegations are serious, and disturbing. The person resigned and the office accepted the resignation.
Until the case is filed and tried, I'm not sure what can be said that is any more than opinion.

(6,324 posts)But the arrest was just a week or two ago, so at this point there is no conviction.
As such at this time all that exists it allegations.
In reality its a stronger statement to say even allegations are enough to sever ties.
