It will depend on (a) if he's charged, (b) what he's charged with, and (c) how much time he's looking at if convicted.

At this point that is a formality. We're talking 20+ Republicans in the FBI and 5+ of them are Trumps own appointees, and it's coming out of the largest District Attorney's office in the country. They had some serious shit on him to prompt this raid.

This isn't about getting him to "roll" this is about getting Trump in a deposition to talk about what he did.

... that he won't be charged. But I've learned not to assume facts not in evidence until they ARE in evidence. And they will be soon enough.

And at this point, we have no idea what the charges might be - or even whether they are all Trump-related, or are related to Cohen's own conduct outside of his dealings with Spanky.

No one said this is about "getting him to roll" - but the possibility certainly exists that under the right circumstances, he will anyway. Depending on the prison time he might be threatened with, Cohen could point the way to a few still-buried bodies in exchange for a lighter sentence.

Sliding his info to NY and letting them handle it removes 45's get out of jail free card for Cohen and lets Mueller not even have to deal with looking bad dealing with the salaciousness of the Stormy Daniels wing of the Trump Lamentation Configuration that is currently imploding on itself.

I thought I heard that this would be prosecuted by the state DA, effectively removing the pardon ability for Trump.

They know he is totally dedicated to Trump but now they have the goods on him.
And it's in New York so Trump can't pardon him.
He either flips or spends his life in prison.

Except tRump may be a co-conspirator, so the law's not clear.

Also, there are bound to be state charges for Cohen. And tRump.

There is no chance of a pardon from the Orange Shit-Stain because these charges will be coming from a New York District Attorney or the AG of New York himself.

Cohen's life - as he knew it - is over. He'll be disbarred, and though he'll still be able to work somewhere in the vast, dung-covered periphery of Donald Trump's orbit, his days as "top gun" are over. He'll be faced with many, many years of incarceration, not to mention the bank breaking costs of criminal defense Attorneys, and the monetary penalties associated with his crimes.

In short, Cohen is fucked. He'll finally realize that Trump would throw him under any bus, truck, car, motorcycle, or skateboard coming his way, in a heartbeat. Trump cares about Trump, and I'm betting Trump has already deleted his phone number from his phone. Trump won't contribute one dime to his defense costs, and all contact between the two will come to a halt in a relatively short period of time.

Cohen, for all his bluster and bullying, is a coward. He'll sing like a mockingbird.

Just nailin' down the last bits. Making a list. Checking it twice.

Felix Sater knows more, I think. And he's probably why they raided Cohen.

It's getting to be too late to flip.

Later on, probably, but for now he'll hide behind his client's executive powers and simply refuse to talk, counting on the president's ability to make the investigation go away.

He's been loyal to a fault for a long time. Even if Trump has him set up to take the fall -- and it's a long fall -- there's life after the White House, jail, etc. Richard Nixon proved this.

Cohen might tell all in a book or teevee interview. If he rolls over on Trump, he's going to get paid. Bigly.

Evidence is leverage, these people spend their lives getting leverage over people so they can use them. They rarely destroy anything, they keep everything because they never know when they'll need to blackmail someone or when they'll need to have leverage enough to themselves not become road kill.

That's how they work, Cohen saved everything to protect his own behind.

Cohen knows where the "bodies" are. If the ties to the Russians are as we all believe, don't think for a minute that one of them would care less if Cohen would suddenly meet his demise. That's not to say that isn't a possibility even now.

If it's for the Stormy Daniels situation, as bad as the potential charges are, I really don't think this is something that would cause Cohen to flip on Trump. I tend to think of this as a Scooter Libby moment.
