Fake Phone Survey Alert: "Informed Electorate" wants you to participate

in a political survey. I just got a call that went to my voicemail, but they began asking questions straight off before disconnecting so this was probably a bot or robocall. The question they asked was: "Do you approve or disapprove of the way Donald Trump is handling his job as president?"

I looked them up and found them listed at Internet Scam Alerts as a scam to get your credit card info. They typically call you two times with survey questions, but on the third call they hit you up for money to support their efforts.

This looks like a phishing expedition to me, so be very careful if "Informed Electorate" or their partner, "Vote the Will", contacts you. The link above has more details on this scan, but they can't find who is actually running it.

1. I was contacted by them, a few years ago

It was before I got caller ID. I answered a few questions and they said they'd check back with me, in a few weeks. And they did. And they asked for money. And they wouldn't take "NO!!" for an answer. That's when they learned exactly how many languages I can curse in, and how loud I can express those words. Haven't heard from them, since, but since I no longer answer calls if I don't recognize the name/number, I never will, again.

2. Yeah, my caller ID showed that yesterday.

I used the "Press the green button, wait two seconds, and press the red button" technique. That's my standard solution for robo-calls. That way, the phone doesn't ring so many times before voicemail kicks in.

3. Got 2 last week. Didn't bother answering.
