Schumer: It's time to vote on legislation protecting Mueller

Schumer: It's time to vote on legislation protecting Mueller
BY ALEXANDER BOLTON - 04/10/18 11:17 AM EDT

Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer (N.Y.) on Tuesday called on Senate GOP leaders to bring legislation to the floor that would protect special counsel Robert Mueller from being fired in the midst of heightened tension over his investigation into Russian election meddling.

Schumer called for new protections of Mueller hours after the FBI raided the Manhattan office of Trump’s longtime personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, enraging the president.

The Democratic leader warned that Mueller’s investigation must be allowed to proceed unimpeded to avoid a constitutional crisis.

He noted that there are several bipartisan bills to protect the special counsel.

Why would any Republican sign off?

Might be best for the Democrats to press, press, press on Republicans to disclose why they WON'T bring such a bill to the floor.

Paint them in a corner.

He will feel momentarily relieved but will be viewed as a renegade politician from American values, norms, law, justice. He will be like a chicken in a boiling pot of water, and he just turned up the heat!

I know this is supposed to go slowly and methodically, but I sort of hope Mueller has all his ducks in a row with a rapidfire series of highest level indictments and the much anticipated report. The country needs a cleansing. This is worse, far worse than Watergate. You knew Nixon was lying, but it was about the coverup and the incursion into Laos, at least in public view. THIS is global, has implications for war or peace, hits with a sledgehammer at the rule of law, and drags criminal elements into the mix of the rich and powerful who have their thumbs on all of us. They don't come any bigger. This is the Refrigerator.

is in the Twilight Zone of non-reality. I can't imagine how turtle and boybo are going to say "Oh, now we see the light!" They've dug some holes and may have well feathered some nests for their escape.

Guess what? The goppers will be leaving the dems and the people to pick up after them. Next time, please don't let them near these shores, this democracy, again.

I suspect he'd resign rather than fire Mueller. Sessions has recused himself.

Good luck with that.
OK, make him not sign it and then what? Paul Ryan to initiate impeachment? Shit. He wouldn't even write a strongly worded letter.

And have on record each and every Republican POS that votes 'nay' on the bill. Then target each and every one of them for removal from office.
