So I was having lunch at my favorite watering hole today. It's an oval bar like
the one in "Cheers." Not too far from me, two guys were discussing Trump, Cohen, Mueller, the FBI, Rosenstein, etc.

Both were obviously Trumpites, and I guess I shouldn't have been surprised when the louder of the two vomited out "They should toss that kike bastard out on his ass." He was talking about Rosenstein.

My immediate reaction was to tell him to shut his stupid fucking mouth. But today's "Second Amendment uber Alles" nuts have made us all cautious. So I held my temper, threw a scowl at him and bit my tongue. (The bartender had also heard it. She glanced at me and shook her head in disgust.)

Later, after I'd cooled down, it occurred to me that the same language was likely being tossed around by the orange creature, (and perhaps others), at the White House.

We can't get this horrible disease out of the Oval Office soon enough.

I am sure, at some point in your life, you have heard some "non-racist" (self-described, of course), who has said; "There are X and there, Y". Basically, a racial/bigoted slur, then the group being slurred. E.G. "There are kikes, and there are Jews." Of course, this phrase is more often directed toward African-Americans, but I have heard it used in regards to Jews, gays, and women. It is there way of claiming they see that some members of those groups are OK, but others are not, and they are the real trouble makers. It is cognitive dissonance at its "best".

Though I realize at times it is hard as we might suffer recriminations or get into a public argument or worse, we cannot hold our tongues and allow this kind of talk to go unchallenged.

I felt that way for the longest time when I first moved to the South and thought I had to keep quiet around other white people when they were being wickedly racist. After a while I threw caution to the wind and stopped sitting still for it. Found I had many compatriots.

It is much the same now. We cannot bite our tongues. They must be ridiculed publicly, in fact especially publicly. They think they can get away w/ saying hateful things and we need to prove to them that they cannot.
