(41,832 posts)Yes some of them are really not knowledgeable, but its not their age its their lack of knowledge. Many older people are quite adept at all things tech related.

(2,380 posts)I'm an old coot, but it's usually me that the kids come to for tech help. I get a little weary of the stereotypes. Although, in all fairness, I have friends who are still using flip phones and won't give up their land lines because they may get another fax some day.

(15,540 posts)your post is equally as stereotypical. I'm a senior also and very computer literate and I keep my land line not because I'm "waiting for a fax" but because I live in an area where cell reception isn't always reliable. Plus, what's wrong with a flip phone? Isn't a phone supposed to be used to make phone calls and that's what you can do with a flip phone.
Maybe the people with the flip phones are the smart ones. They're smart enough not to get suckered into buying a $600 phone.

(2,434 posts)on that sub-committee and I didn't watch it all because it was too painful. But you are so correct. What a bunch of old-fart white men who generally leave the tech stuff to their staff. They may as well have asked him if he was ashamed of himself - like a typical grandparent. Folks we need new blood and I ain't one of 'em.
