Latest stuff going on in right wing world is that Michelle Obama wore a $6800 dress to Buckingham Palace last week. They are comparing that with Ann Romney's $900 t-shirt. I can only find it on the righty press. Anyone know what's the truth?

(114,904 posts)thread about this: MO is the First Lady. She was at an official function at Buckingham Palace. AR was doing a morning U.S. talk show. MO may have been lent her outfit by the designer; a common practice.

(135,425 posts)She wasn't there to clean the toilets, she was there to meet the queen.
I have no idea how much her dress cost, but she'd have to spend a shitload to beat the prices of the GOP get-ups of Annie and Missus McCain.
Tamp down that concern, now. It'll be OK.

(367 posts)Nancy Reagan, btw: "Her white, hand-beaded, one shoulder Galanos 1981 inaugural gown was estimated to cost $10,000 while the overall price of her inaugural wardrobe was said to cost $25,000" (and that was 1980s prices.)

(53,410 posts)This might piss you off, but she probably has a choice of wearing a dozen such dresses at every official function. Designers beg the First Lady to wear their clothes because it'll make them famous. When she wears their clothes the demand for those clothes alone makes them rich.
If you've ever listened to the interviews on the red carpet events in Hollywood you'd know that the actresses are always asked who the're wearing, not what they're wearing. Those events are more about the Designers than it is about the actors.
