Women drank and smoked during pregnancy, not knowing the harm. And some families have that hard, biting sense of humor. She was no Saint but she was also no pushover. She loved her family but she also pushed them, sometimes farther than they could handle. And she could hold a grudge like no ones business. (Something I admittedly have in common with her.)

I'm curious about the future of the family in politics. We know there will be a future. We also know if it's dependent upon the Bush twins it will not be in the GOP, unless they drastically change overnight. And I think Barbara would be just fine with either of them, especially her namesake, running as something other than a Republican.
