Applause for woman pilot being honored and thanked - Tammie Jo Shults

Good on the media for highlighting the Southwestern airlines pilot that did such a good job bringing her damaged plane in safely. Tammie Jo Shults is an ex Navy fighter pilot and being hailed as having nerves of steel and a cool head.

Hero Southwest pilot one of Navy's first female fighter pilots

She deserves this appreciation. I’m deliberately gated and gratified to see it.

Like most if not all professional pilots, she takes her job mightily seriously. And thank God for that. Those passengers were all saved, all but the one, because of her courage and ability to stay calm and focused. I guess a fire-tested Navy pilot will get that way.

She calmly reports the plane is damaged and a passenger was pulled out of a window.
All the while the jetliner is tilting to one side. A long 20-minute ride to the runway.
