I'm a Master Gardener and have given several lectures on the cultivation of perennials. I'm qualified, right?

that's the magic question. But in all seriousness. You can't know anything about the department you head if you are appointed by donthecon.

My yard is still under a foot of snow. Actually, I've pretty much given up on tomatoes - most of my yard has become too shady. But you're right about that being the wrong department. Maybe I could have the IRS, since I've never been able to do my own tax returns without making mistakes.

Any halfway decent air and space museum has a display explaining how a rocket works. Bridenstein used to be a naval aviator, so he knows the physics of flight and how rockets work. And he is supposedly an "avid supporter of space exploration," whatever that might mean.

Compare Bridenstein to his HUD secretary (whose qualification is that he has lived in houses on occasion), his Education secretary (whose qualification is that she's never been in a public school because she knows they are all bad) or his SBA administrator (whose qualification is that small businesses run the concession stands at the arenas where her wrestlers perform) and you can see Trump fucked up on this pick. There are PLENTY of flat-earthers, moon-landing deniers and jet fuel hoaxers to choose from. Why in hell would he pick someone who has been in the aerospace business?

After all, he could have gotten Bart Sibrel:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bart_Sibrel
Sibrel confronted several Apollo astronauts, who did not respond positively when they realized that they are being challenged on their accredited achievement of landing and walking on the Moon. The most infamous incident involved Apollo 11 crew member Buzz Aldrin. According to Aldrin, he was lured to a Beverly Hills, California, hotel on September 9, 2002, under the pretext of an interview on space for a Japanese children's television show. As he was leaving the hotel, Sibrel was there requesting that he swear an oath on a Bible that he had walked on the Moon.

When Aldrin refused, Sibrel followed him and said "you're the one who said you walked on the moon when you didn't", and then called Aldrin "a coward, and a liar, and a thief". Aldrin, after asking Sibrel "will you get out of my way for me?", reacted by punching Sibrel in the jaw, while being recorded by Sibrel's camera crew. Sibrel later attempted to use the tape to convince police and prosecutors that he was the victim of an assault. However, it was decided that Aldrin had been provoked and no charges were filed. Many talk shows aired the clip, usually siding with Aldrin's response. Sibrel said later that he wrote a letter of apology to Aldrin for speaking to him harshly.
