I don't for one second believe that Trump would care about any "disruption" he'd cause at Barbara Bush's funeral. It's much more likely that the Bushes let him know that it would be best if he didn't attend. Maybe they mentioned a possible disruption. The WH would have to make it seem as if this was Trump's idea and he was, for once in his life, being considerate of someone else.
Yeah, right...
He's fuming that he's not welcome.
And on the day when former presidents and their wives attend the funeral (except for Jimmy Carter and his wife, because of health concerns), Trump is going golfing, yet again, and rage-tweeting.
Photo of him from a photojournalist working for the NYT, as Trump heads to his golf course:

(3,608 posts)think he gives a rats ass about this funeral and he is glad to not have to go. He can now focus on tweeting "to save his life", which of course is going to garner the opposite result and of then he can go golfing....so can't beat that!

We examined the last five funerals that were held for former first ladies. We found that while it is customary for first ladies to attend such services, a sitting president attended only one:
President Obama did not attend Betty Fords funeral services... But first lady Michelle Obama did attend, along with former first ladies Rosalynn Carter, Hillary Clinton and Nancy Reagan. ... President George W. Bush did not attend the funeral for Lady Bird Johnson, who passed away in 2007. First lady Laura Bush did attend, as did former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, and former first ladies Rosalynn Carter, Barbara Bush, Hillary Clinton and Nancy Reagan. ...President Bill Clinton attended the graveside services of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis at Arlington National Cemetery on May 23, 1994, and delivered an address. ... Clinton did not, however, attend the funeral of former first lady Pat Nixon... President Ronald Reagan did not attend former first lady Bess Trumans funeral in 1982, according to the Washington Post. First lady Nancy Reagan did attend, along with former first ladies Rosalynn Carter and Betty Ford.

However, since Spanky doesn't care about protocol, and he could have gone if he'd really wanted to, it's likely that he was either asked not to attend or decided he'd rather play golf since he wouldn't be the center of attention.

And he always took such joy in belittling Jeb and ridiculing W that he probably would have enjoyed being there if he thought he could get enough attention.
I'm still guessing that the family let him know it would be best if he didn't attend, and they kept that communication with the WH private and let Trump save face by pretending he was concerned for them.

Most of the people replying to her tweet seem to believe Trump was NOT invited.
I've even seen a number of tweets, there and elsewhere, speculating that Barbara Bush might have left clear instructions that he was not to be invited to her funeral.
