I have wondered about that too. Democrats lost big in all other sectors over that time. Look at 2010 and 2014. And it was in the states that many benefits were effected. Gerrymandering and voter tampering is a lot easier in local elections with smaller electorate.

Democrats did well in districts where they were more dominant and even. Yet there were so many key districts and states where the GOP had huge advantage. In total Democrats got more vote but still lost seats. WE have the same problem today.

They blame the minorities or the immigrants for their factories closing, for them not getting jobs, for their benefits getting cut, etc.

Racism provides a sort of "prophylaxis" to cognitive dissonance, they get to keep their racial identity and that they are the 'same' as rich and powerful white people like Trump, and they don't have to notice the people telling them they're not going to get hired, or telling them that it's "tough but there's nothing they can do" when they lose their jobs or their benefits, or responsible for the factory moving overseas are white people just like them... just richer, more powerful, more connected...

Republicans have the trifecta. In fact, they are worse off. At what point do they stop believing the lies they are being fed and just take notice of who they put in charge? At what point does their reality catch up with their ignorance and stupidity?

their tent under the bridge, it would still be all the Democrats' fault. Even if there were no Dems left. Even if there were no houses left. Even if there was no decent environment left. They will die before blaming anyone else.
