But, mind YOU, stay off the topic of politics. ESPECIALLY if you're going to speak about anybody but us. We don't need any guilt trips Padre. can't you preach something from Joel Osteens Prosperity Bible??
Add...When has ANY priest been asked to make an invocation that doesn't touch on the event thereafter? I'm SO not religious, mostly bc of the type of behavior in the story above, but I remember a few things from Catechism.
Jesus was poor. He was non judgmental, he was hunted and he loved those around him, even the strange ones. He was angered by the money lenders(?) in the temple, but above all set a tender example for all of us. Was he real? I don't know. Is the bible real? I don't know. (Constantine edited it quite heavily), is it a book we should follow? I suppose for an exemplar on the best humanity CAN offer. Did he die for us? I'd like to think he wasn't murdered in vane. But he sure didn't die for us so that his life could be used as a sword and a shield to protect folks who have SO much. There are SO many people struggling. WHY is it so hard to understand that when we're all happy and contented and hopeful, our country thrives, and grateful people adore those that helped them TRULY make their lives better? HOW MUCH DO THEY NEED?
This is a perfect story to show how religion is used to sanitize beliefs and intentions, and that it shouldn't be more of a guide to us than what we learned in kindergarten or from our parents who wanted the best for us. Have a good weekend folks. Create some happiness for yourselves. GO OUTSIDE if you normally don't. It's springtime. NOW is the time to immerse yourselves in outside stuff, bc, from what we all know, Fall comes so fast, and then it's winter.
I hope all of us can get some stuff done that we've been putting off. If you have to scrape and paint your house....start today with just a small spot. If you have to clean something...start the job, and if your lucky, finish it. Today is the first day of the rest of our lives. Like the movie Dead Poets Society...."Carpe Diem lads" Seize the day. The most fuel a rocket uses is to get off the launching pad. Listen to some favorite music. Be strong.
The news cycle is on a Friday spin. With any luck the boom will drop when we least expect it. Never in our history has government been so corrupt. It's going to change, when it does, be in a position to look back and say.."It was bad, but I made it through. I was scared and angry, but I made it through. I believed in the U.S.A., and I was glad I did"
The "Padre" in the story knows we are hurting. Take comfort. Have a good weekend everybody. (ps...Mothers Day is coming...don't pull a dt-melanias Bday bit and just get her a card. Such a bum.) Without Mom and Dad, none of us would be here typing. Amazon can assist you if you can't leave home. Give yourselves a hug. The Padre is telegraphing that message to Congress and to each and every one of us. Our pain isn't going unnoticed.
Ok, I'm done.
