Does Donald Trump Represent a New Direction in Christianity?

So, Paul Ryan fired the Catholic priest who was the House Chaplain. Why? For repeating the words Jesus supposedly spoke regarding caring for the poor and helpless.

Trump is a serial adulterer, a sexual abuser, and has been married multiple times. Why are "Evangelical" Christians embracing him wholeheartedly?

Perhaps Donald Trump represents the "Prosperity Gospel" run amock, with material gain the only real sign of acceptance.

It's hard to say, but we're seeing the same people who condemn all sorts of moral flaws standing in line to praise Donald Trump, whose declarations of being a Christian are weakly stated, at best.

It's a weird trend, I think.

"The Religious Right". Temptation was irresistible to them. I only wish their was someone on the right who would be of huge stature, to relentlessly condemn them. They are not being challenged hard enough.

The Religious Right turned out to help elect him. They support him, regardless of his vast assortment of flaws and arrogant behaviors. They will not hear any word spoken against him.

They gained power in 2016, and are loath to let it pass. They appear to have embrace this new approach to what they once claimed to hate. Trump is giving them a pass on racism, bigotry, misogyny, variations in sexuality and more. Apparently, those things are to their liking, and maybe always have been.

They've even accepted their old mortal enemy, Russia.

I find it frightening.

and the hypocrisy that we all knew, is laid bare. The Democratic Party just has to win, not only for the USA, but the rest of us in the West. Trump's win may actually be the lancing of the boil, in energizing Democrats and showing the vast majority of the American people that their vote does count, and every vote is important.

willing to overlook who he is. In their minds, it is God's will that a detestable man won because he is being used by God.
