Nancy Pelosi: Republican Jews Are ‘Being Exploited’

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told Bloomberg’s Al Hunt in an interview published on Friday that she believes Jewish Republicans are “smart people” but are “being exploited” by Republican leadership.

Pelosi told Hunt that she believes the President will win the Jewish vote in November.

“I think that he will, because the fact is when the facts get out,” Pelosi said. “You know, as many of the Republicans are using Israel as an excuse, what they really want are tax cuts for the wealthy. So Israel, that can be one reason they put forth.”

When Hunt said that the issue of Israel was why so many Republican Jews are active and engaged, Pelosi made the case that they are being exploited to advance an agenda that has little to do with Israeli security.

I discovered these comments when Michael Savage (who is Jewish) called Pelosi's comments condescending, to open his show on Monday night, and posited whether a Republican politician who claimed Democrats exploit blacks would survive:

Meanwhile, the Wash. Post has a new article, "Jewish voters ponder Romney":

Every four years, American politics enters a mystical period. Elected officials, campaign operatives and the news media wonder whether this election might be different from all the others. Republicans saw an opening in 2008, when Barack Obama was depicted by some of his more animated critics as the crypto-Muslim personification of “bad for the Jews.” But the Democratic candidate won 75 percent of the Jewish vote.

Could 2012 be the year? Today, Obama’s numbers among Jews have dipped into the 60s, according to recent polls, and Republicans are hoping the drop has less to do with a lousy economy than with Obama’s early, aggressive efforts to move the Mideast peace process along with sometimes blunt criticism of the Israeli government. They are hoping for a conversion among lifelong Democrats, an influx of donors and reassaurance for evangelicals, for whom the protection of the Holy Land is a top issue.

No, it is not "equal opportunity exploitation" except in a very small percentage of Republican Jews. Behind the Aegis Aug 2012 #5

But, for some of them, they know it, so the fault is all their own. The Washington Post article is abysmal and nothing more than devisive bullshit that happens to the Jews every fucking election season..EVERY ONE!

It's equal opportunity exploitation. Can't we just settle on the fact that a Willard M. Romney pResidency would be disastrous for us all?

The exploitation is as rampant on the other side of the aisle.

but it has always been my impression that our (U.S.) government is supposed to work equally on behalf of all of us. If you feel that your civil rights or civil liberties are being infringed upon by Democrats, feel free to post on that topic. I'll probably read it and let you know what I think.

In the meantime, society is evolving and we've never had it better. A lot of my friends would have been classified as crackers, rednecks and hillbillies just a decade ago, but now they're cool with all kinds of shit. I've simply got to explain Romney (and Cantor) to them properly, and we'll be cool.

Obama is doing better among Jews now than he was at this point in time during the 2008 election. He's at 68% now, he was 61% back then. He ended up getting well over 70% of the Jewish vote.
