Lets talk about the 16 cell phones. Holy stupidity Batman.

Lol, How dumb are the people who are being investigated? How much information does Mueller have? I admit things are moving very slow for my sanity, but when it all comes together look out.

Cohen kept all his cell phones. What comes after stupid? He was facing serious charges before they found the cell phones. Before they grabbed his safety deposit box, his computers. Dam!

Maybe he diligently destroys and discards the old phones and these are the *new* phones he had lined up for future use.

To me, though, the mere fact that he's got so many phones is suspicious. Not much in and of itself, but consistent with much to hide....

If he had data on the phones that need to be saved or achieved, either he was lazy (x16 phones?) or didn't know how and didn't bring in someone knowledgeable to help him, which also makes him stupid. If there is any hints of illegal activity on those phones he was an inept amatuer in leaving them laying just waiting to be logged in as state's evidence. He's known Trump's campaign was under investion for years, and he was a prime player, but he still made no effort to get rid of stuff that would incriminate himself or has BFF. That's the script for a new episode of America's Dumbest Criminals.

With Cohen, what would a 'normal' person think? That they dealing in criminal behavior, e.g., drugs, etc.? What is Cohen, RUMP's coke dealer?

I can somewhat understand keeping perhaps the phones, but in my case, I keep because I don't want the data
on the old phones obtained. I also have kept everyone of my old computers. If I could absolutely find an outlet that'll will truly and forever erase any personal sensitive information on these old cpus and / or cellphones, and actually feeling like they really did properly and totally erased the data, I would dispose of.

Being an old computer guy from the mid-1970s on (and what a lot of people are discovering in today's internet world, digital footprints via pictures files etc. are hard to erase/destroy).

So I make room in my already crowded closets, and cram all of my old cpus and old cell phones in them. I feel better, although I do know I can get into these devices and yank out motherboard in cpus (?) and sim cards in phones (?) and so forth, to destroy. I don't really care about the resale value of these devices. It's worth it to me to ensure that my data is, perhaps gone, still truly safe (being w/ me still).

One day when I want something to do for the heck of it, I'll set all of the old CPUs etc. around me, and then start dismantling them entirely (I do know something of the interior of harddrives/slots/etc., so instead of just keeping the entire cabinets, I'll gut them out. The other components I guess I set them out in the alley (it'll be gone within the day, our alley scavengers will get the worthless components/cabling/etc. and take to a recycling place close to us). So I help them (scavengers) and finally get this old stuff out of the house.

The old rotary phones I still keep, because I am what they call profoundly hard of hearing, and have found that the volume controls on the telephone handsets worked great for me (despite all gee whiz tech., I have yet to really find a device that would amp the signals as well as the old ATT rotary phones).

The only component within a computer that stores data is the storage drive. On older computers, this would be a hard drive. Simply remove the storage device and dismantle and break it using a hammer.

The rest of the technology can be disposed of without fear for any of your data.

I would take the hard drive(s) out (as mentioned above, that's the only place your data is stored) and donate or sell the rest of the box and let whoever know they just need to add a hard drive and operating system to make it 'go' again.

There's also free apps that will overwrite your HD with '1' across every single bit on the drive, rendering it effectively 'blanked' ... it may be possible that someone with military-level wherewithal might be able to recover the old data but the likelihood that someone receiving the machine from a Goodwill or whatnot has that sort of capability is basically nil.

Thing you DON'T want to do is just 'reformat' your hard drive cause that provides almost zero 'security' for your old data. Lots of free apps that can recover data in that scenario as the files are not actually wiped, just made more difficult to access.

The whole machine is referred to as 'A PC' or 'An Apple', or just 'computer'.

magnetic tape basically scoping the entire section of magnetic tape that was damaged (physically) and we did manage to recover all of the data.

Its doable, any damaged medium, but very time consuming and done bit by bit. I knew that reformatting drive wouldn't do the trick. Thanks though, about the donating or selling the hard drive component...however, I know that Goodwill and places like this do not take (in STLMO), probably overwhelmed w/ old cpu stuff.

I've found the best resource to donate is to give to a business, they give me a receipt for tax purposes. It helps them, and it helps me (what very little I've given).

Thanks so much, take care.
