Nobody can identify a piece of writing as satire by only reading its title.

The clues that it is satire are in the rest of the content. If you read only titles, you aren't getting the entire story.

For those who don't know that I sometimes post a piece of satirical writing, you can tell by my use of this smilie at the end of the post:

That's the Evil Grin smilie. It's the Devil laughing. Look for it. I don't use it unless I'm being satirical.

I'm just saying...

If you have a limited amount of time, you may want to get the news and views. And if you have a slow internet, getting sucked into clicking does take time and is frustrating. I have a DSL line and occasionally it takes 5 to 10 seconds to change pages. Almost as bad as dialup used to be.

I don't see the fun in being tricked into clicking on a misleading headline. If that's what you enjoy, just start a satire and joke only forum. How hard is it to mark a post as satire? I like the latest threads because of the great diversity it has so I wont look only at one forum.

But, how does a person with no sense of humor avoid being your target audience? This whole argument doesn't bother me one way or the other. I certainly have a pretty well developed range and sense of humor. I was responding to the first comment, where that person just asked if you could label your post as satire. I can see his point. No point in discussing any further. I enjoy all posts on DU.

Nor will I. Put me on ignore if that's too much for you to handle. That's my suggestion.

SO many comments on FB pages that run counter to the contents of an article or posting questions that would be answered by READING the article

Laziness

And no one confirms from other sources. Case in point, your post re: Assholesteen

8. BREAKING: MineralMan Causes Democrats to Lose Elections by Writing Satire!

Apr 2018
Well known Democratic Underground personality, MineralMan, has been the cause of several lost elections, studies show. MineralMan claims that he had no idea his satirical pieces would be taken as seriously as they were. "I even included a smiley devil emoji," MineralMan stated in his defense. Yet some Democratic Underground members have railed against MineralMan's posts in the last few days, saying that they were misled on purpose. One Democratic Underground user who wishes to remain anonymous told us, "I feel used, betrayed, and confused by all this. I just wish it would stop!" Meanwhile, some right wing pundits have wondered if MineralMan is being funded by George Soros.
